Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has confirmed that Maurizio Sarri is ‘very detailed’ and has clarified that he is ‘very different’ from the Premier League in terms of Series A tactics.
The Old Lady picked up the Wales international on a free transfer last summer when Ramsey left Arsenal after a decade in north London.
The 29-year-old hasn’t succeeded in putting himself in the starting line-up of Sarri, but has been successful in major games including the final fixture ahead of the Interruption.”Getting the three points and returning to the top of the league has been a huge task for us. We made sure on the day that we gave everything. Nobody knew if the standings would stay the way they were, “Ramsey told The Athletic about the 2-0 victory against the Nerazzurri.
Ramsey admitted that he was given a glimpse of comprehensive tactics by former Gunners coach Unai Emery but acknowledged that he was faced with a radically different approach.
“It is different from what I’m used to doing. Although Unai Emery had been going through a lot of things last season. Sarri likes to be very thorough about things. The tactics are such a big thing here, especially in Italy. The Premier League is more end to end. There is a little more flexibility to attack and there is potentially more room to manipulate. A lot of teams here, especially against the bigger sides, drop into a low block much deeper and encourage you to come and break them down. You have to be much patience.”
Currently, Juventus continues versus Milan in the semi-finals of the return leg of Coppa Italia, with the match ending 1-1 in San Siro in February.
