Canada right-back Alistair Johnston has completed his move to Celtic after his World Cup. As they continue their preparations for the January transfer window, the Scottish champions will pay the

“I’m thrilled. He is someone we already knew might be a great addition to our club,” Celtic head coach Ange Postecoglou said about Alistair Johnston. “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with him. Knowing he would be attending the World Cup, I believe he also did well there. He has had an interesting professional path where he has worked extremely hard to get where he is.”

“He’s eager to join the team and advance in his career, and I believe he’ll fit right in with the rest of our players and contribute to our team’s play,” he added. “He typically played center-back or right-back on the right side of the defense. He’s a really powerful competitor who doesn’t mind the physical side of the game, has excellent technical ability, is excellent moving forward, and like I said, I think he’ll contribute something to our team.”

Josip Juranovic, Celtic’s current first-choice right-back, may depart the club in January after contract negotiations fell through. It is believed that when the 27-year-old, whose contract is valid until 2026, returns from Qatar with Croatia having advanced to the competition’s round of 16, negotiations will restart. The negotiations for Giorgos Giakoumakis’ new contract have also stopped. If a better offer cannot be reached, the Greece striker, who is also bound by a further three and a half years of the contract, may also depart during the transfer season. With 13 goals in 21 games, Giakoumakis was the joint-top scorer in the Scottish Premiership last season.
