Since being stabbed during a robbery attempt, former Liverpool and current Derby County defender Andre Wisdom is recovering in hospital.
While visiting the family, Wisdom was assaulted in Toxteth, having starred for Derby in a 2-1 victory over Reading on Saturday.
The defender is recovering in hospital at the moment, with Derby reporting that Wisdom suffered injuries during the attack.
The club said in a statement: “Andre Wisdom was the victim of an unprovoked robbery and assault. He sustained injuries which led to his admission to hospital.”
Wisdom first joined Liverpool at the age of 14 in 2008, having previously risen from the youth system at Bradford City.
The defender made his Liverpool debut in 2012, where he played 19 times while scoring one goal in his first senior campaign under Brendan Rodgers.
His second season saw him make just three appearances to start the campaign before being loaned to Derby County, starting a series of loans away from Anfield.
Wisdom played for West Brom, Norwich, and RB Salzburg during that period, before joining Derby on a permanent deal in 2017.
After making the switch, Wisdom has made 58 appearances for the Championship side in all competitions, scoring one goal.
Derby currently sits eighth in the championship following Saturday’s victory over Reading, with Wayne Rooney scoring last time out for the game-winning goal.
The Rams are three points short of a playoff spot while at the same time being even with Preston North End in seventh place.
Derby faces Preston at Deepdale on Wednesday, before heading home to take fourth place over the weekend in Nottingham Forest.
