Champions League Final: Liverpool Player Ratings

Thibaut Courtois produced a match-winning performance as Real Madrid beat Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final in Paris. Liverpool dominated possession but was thwarted by the Belgian on a number of occasions. Vinicius Junior scored the only goal of the game in the second half when he got on the end of a Fredrico Valverde cross.

Alisson – 6

There were only two Real Madrid shots on target all night, which showed how underworked Alisson was.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6

His battle with Vinicius was a big talking point before the game and he repeatedly showed why Real Madrid needed to be worried.

Ibrahima Konate – 8

Had looked badly out of sorts against Wolves on Sunday but, given the nod ahead of Joel Matip, Konate produced a big performance on the big stage. He earned the highest of the Liverpool player ratings in the Champions League final.

Virgil van Dijk – 6

Was there a rare error from the Dutchman for Real Madrid’s goal? It seemed that way, with Van Dijk backing off and backing off.

Andy Robertson – 6

The left-back has enjoyed a fine season and did little wrong here, although he was not seen on the front foot in the first half.

Thiago Alcantara – 7

A fitness doubt right up until kick-off, with concerns about whether he had shaken off his injury from Sunday raised during the first warm-up.

Fabinho – 6

Won his race to be fit for the final and anchored the Liverpool midfield with his usual authority, limiting Real’s play through midfield.

Jordan Henderson – 7

He has lifted the lot as captain of Liverpool but will be gutted not to have got his hands on a second Champions League trophy.

Luis Diaz – 6

The winger has hit the ground running at Liverpool but ran into a well-supported experienced right-back in Carvajal in Paris.

Sadio Mane – 6

There had been talking before the game that Mane could have sealed the Ballon d’Or with a top performance in Paris.

Mohamed Salah – 6

Salah was left slapping the ground after yet another stunning stop from Courtois in the second half and that summed up his frustrating night.
