Huddersfield guaranteed themselves a playoff finish as they produced one of the narrow football scores of the weekend in the Championship. Harry Toffolo continued his good form as he opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before Tino Anjorin doubled their advantage in the 79th minute. Victor Gyokeres scored a consolation goal for the hosts in the 90th minute. Coventry remained in 11th place while Huddersfield is guaranteed to finish in either third or fourth place with a game to go in the league.

Managers Reaction

Coventry’s Mark Robins: “It was a really good day in terms of the atmosphere, the crowd on the ground, and the way we started. We played well and created a lot of chances but we didn’t take our chances until the death. The story of it is that we are really good in possession but we concede a chance out of possession and it ends in the back of the net. We’ve lost too many at home and that’s something we have to sort out.”

Huddersfield’s Carlos Corberan: “This was a win in a very tough game. I am satisfied because the team got the three points, which was our target. Arriving at the end of the season winning games is always important to me. To be in the playoffs is excellent. I know how much our fans have suffered in the last few years and having the chance to make them proud is a special feeling for me.”
