Chelsea has appointed former RB Leipzig head of recruitment Christopher Vivell as their new technical director. Vivell formerly worked for Red Bull Salzburg, Leipzig’s sibling organization, for five years as head of scouting and hiring. While there, he oversaw the hiring of Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi. Prior to that, he was employed by the Bundesliga team Hoffenheim as a first-team scout. Graham Potter’s manager, Vivell would offer support, according to Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly.
“Christopher taking on this significant leadership position at the club makes us very happy. His achievements in Austria and Germany speak for themselves. Here at Chelsea, we are sure that he will maintain his excellent trajectory,” Todd Boehly said after the appointment of Christopher Vivell. “He will play a key role in promoting our overall strategy for the club and offer Graham and the ownership group valuable support. I’m very happy to be joining Chelsea as they embark on the most exciting undertaking in world sport. There is a lot of opportunity for the club to succeed, advance, and expand. I’m looking forward to contributing to the new ownership’s philosophy, which is supported by performance analysis, statistics, and innovation, as well as Graham Potter and the larger sporting staff.”
