The German edition Bild claims that the striker Timo Werner is on the verge of concluding a contract with Chelsea, as the Londoners beat Inter, Juventus, and Liverpool. The 24-year-old German has a €60 million clause in his contract with RB Leipzig but it has long been rumored that Timo Werner wants to play for Liverpool at Anfield.
The European club champion, however, refused to pay Leipzig ‘s request 60 million for him and Inter did the same. The Italian club wants first to sell Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona, then to buy.
Because of these changes, Chelsea took advantage of the situation and the German media reported that Werner had agreed to a five-year West London club deal and would earn EUR 10 million a season.
Werner has 31 goals in 30 games this season for Leipzig and has added 12 assists as well.
The 24-year-old striker has a €60 m release clause in his deal, so it’s a question of who can deliver the best sporting and personal conditions.
Liverpool had been the favorites for weeks, but they do not seem prepared to pay for the full release clause.
Inter then emerged as a contender, but only if Lautaro Martinez moved to Barcelona, while Juventus seems to have Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik as their first choice. It has helped Chelsea to dive into the winning proposal of Werner.
Bild says he will agree on a payment plan worth more than €10 m a year for five years.
