Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes was named as the FA WSL Manager of the Season after guiding the team to the title. Hayes also led the team to the Women’s FA Cup. The club battled a number of off-field challenges to secure their domestic double. The club was hit with a coronavirus outbreak before owner Roman Abramovich was hit by sanctions by the US government.

I will look back in 10 years’ time and think ‘that team was immense’, it’s the best team I’ve ever coached,” Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes said. “I totally understand that we always want to talk about perfection in football, but to be on the winning side more often than not, let me tell you. It’s a human endeavor. This group, they’re not going to be on the losing team. They’ll find a way.”

“Everyone thinks I was surprised at scoring that goal but I told Erin, ‘I’m going to score an unbelievable goal tomorrow, I’m going to chest it down and volley the ball’,” Sam Kerr said about her goal of the season. “I visualize, but I actually think today it both worked in my favor and not in my favor because I visualized too much in the first half and it wasn’t going my way and I felt tired, I felt nervous. And in the second half, we just cleaned it straight. I actually visualized scoring crazy goals like that all the time. Guro headed it to me and I had a pop. I didn’t even know the goalkeeper was out.”
