Manchester City announced the signing of Erling Haaland earlier today from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £51m. City paid his release clause and is expected to pay a total of £85.5m in total with agent fees and a signing bonus. Haaland scored 86 goals for Dortmund where he made 89 appearances since signing from RB Salzburg.

“I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me,” Manchester City forward Erling Haaland said. “There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep is one of the greatest managers of all time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfill my ambitions. I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here. This is a great move for me and I can’t wait to get started in pre-season.”

“It is a fantastic signing by Man City, he is the best young striker in Europe at the moment and every big club in Europe wanted to sign him. He has chosen to join City, he had his pick of which clubs to join, he could have joined Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, or Barcelona – but he decided to join City,” Kaveh Solhekol said. “And the reason he did that is that everything is perfect for him there as far as he is concerned – he is going to be at one of the biggest clubs in the world, challenging for trophies, he is going to be working with Pep Guardiola and he is going to be playing in the Premier League.”
