Andrea Pirlo’s first season as Juventus head coach was not successful. The Turin club is already looking to replace him with his former coach Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Tuttosport, the Bianconeri management reportedly expects Andrea Pirlo to stay with the team next season. The final decision will be based on this season’s performances.

Pirlo’s future with the Bianconeri remains uncertain. A move could occur by the end of the season, if not within days.

According to reports in Italy, if Juventus fails to defeat Napoli on Wednesday, Pirlo’s career could be over.

Juve has leveled on points with fifth-placed Napoli. Hence they are fourth in Serie A, and twelve points behind league leaders Inter.

Club president Andrea Agnelli has already spoken with Allegri. So it appears to be a matter of timing. Others believe he should stick by Pirlo.

“Protect Andrea [Pirlo], look how [Napoli manager Gennaro] Gattuso has risen,” ex-Juventus player Fabio Cannavaro said.

After nine Scudetti in a row, Juventus could be best served by allowing Pirlo to mature to oversee a transition phase.

The match against Napoli on April 7th might be crucial.

Allegri is open to returning. He has been out of work for the past two years after leaving Juventus. There is a possibility of his selection.

Allegri left Juventus in 2019 on bad terms with vice-president Pavel Nedved and sports director Fabio Paratici. He remains in contact with the club and sees out Turin president Andrea Agnelli.
