After undergoing thigh surgery, former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is projected to be out for four months.
Last Thursday, he was injured playing in the Asian Champions League for Japan’s Vissel Kobe against Suwon Bluewings and had surgery on the rectus femoris of his right leg on Tuesday.
After making 442 appearances for Barcelona, Iniesta, 36, joined Kobe in 2018.
Four Champions Leagues and nine La Liga titles are included in his medal collection with the Catalan club.
Iniesta, who scored the winner for Spain in the 2010 World Cup final, said: “I took advice from my medical team after several tests and we felt that the best choice for me was to have surgery and speed up my recovery. The surgery has been a success and I am feeling very well.”
