Antonio Conte has revealed that he is working on several solutions to help Christian Eriksen settle into the Inter team, Antonio Conte has revealed.
During Saturday’s 4-0 win over Benevento in Serie A, Eriksen impressed as a deep-lying play-maker and looks set to enjoy more game time during the second half of the season with the Nerazzurri.
Talking to Rai Sport ahead of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg at home to Juventus, Conte more or less confirmed this.
“Christian is a great guy, he works hard, and we’re trying to work a lot on not one, but several solutions with him,” said Conte.
“We want to make it possible for him, me, and the team to have an alternative option that we can count on.”
In the next eight days, Inter faces the possibility of two Derby d’Italia matches, after which the winner will encounter either Napoli or Atalanta in the final cup. “We have to respect a very strong team,” Conte said of his former employers Juventus.
“We’re going to need to play a great match.”
The qualification, as last season against Napoli, will be determined over the 180 minutes when we lost 1-0 at home and then drew 1-1 at Stadio San Paolo.
“We have to try to do our best, we’ve got to be good.”
Conte also played down the significance of the absence of Romelu Lukaku for the match at San Siro tomorrow, with the Belgian suspended after being booked against AC Milan in the quarter-finals alongside Achraf Hakimi.
We’re not going to be without Romelu for the first time, we’re going to have Alexis Sanchez alongside Lautaro Martinez,” the former Italian boss confirmed.”
“Romelu is in good condition, he reacted well with two goals against Benevento on Saturday. “Now he will be able to take a forced rest and brace himself to play next [against Fiorentina on Friday] in the league again.”
With goals from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella, Inter defeated Juventus 2-0 in the sides’ only previous meeting this season.
