Arsenal crashed to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Tuesday night to seemingly leave them in need of winning the FA Cup to play football in the Europa League next season.

After suffering a loss at Aston Villa, Arsenal’s Europa League qualification ambitions now seem to rely on winning the FA Cup, resulting in an impressive performance at Villa Park as the hosts clinched a massive three-point victory in their hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League. The Gunners were well off the point they had reached in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City.

Missing the path of Granit Xhaka, Arsenal was unable to gain much ground in the first half and had hardly threatened the Premier League ‘s second-worst defense.

And they dropped back when Egyptian winger Trezeguet fired at a corner kick beyond Emiliano Martinez and Arsenal couldn’t bother the Villans on the other end.

Unsurprisingly Xhaka came out of the bench at break and gave Arsenal more control as they increased their pressure and saw the bulk of possession.

Nonetheless, with Arsenal unable to ask any of Pepe Reina ‘s questions in the goal of the hosts, Villa remained dominant and ultimately suffered a 1-0 loss without a single shot on target.

The loss leaves Arsenal sitting in 10th, five points behind seventh-placed Tottenham and a point eighth and ninth behind Sheffield United and Burnley.
