Spotify owner Daniel Ek revealed that he is in for “the long haul” with his bid to complete the Arsenal takeover. He announced that he will present a “compelling offer” to persuade Stan Kroenke to sell. He has called upon Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and Patrick Vieira to support him in his bid to take over ownership of Arsenal.
Last week, the Kroenke’s said they are not interested in entertaining any offers for selling the club. They have come under intense scrutiny in recent times for their involvement in the European Super League. Ek is expecting Kroenke to reject the initial offer but is ready to be patient over a period of time.
“I have secured the funds for it and I want to bring what I think is a very compelling offer to the owners and I hope they hear me out.” Spotify owner Daniel Ek said about his potential Arsenal offer. “I just see a tremendous opportunity to set a real vision for the club to bring it back to its glory.”
One of the most important talking points that have come out of the European Super League debacle is fan representation. Ek has said that he is open to having a board inclusive of fan representation if he takes over. He revealed that he could possibly even give supporters a ‘golden share’. A ‘golden share’ would give the fans veto power.
“I just focus on the club, I focus on the fans and I focus on trying to bring the club back to glory,” added Ek, who was speaking after Spotify announced their first quarterly results on Wednesday. “I am first and foremost a fan, that is the most important thing for me. I want the club to do better. That is my primary interest.”
