Arsenal teenage striker Florian Balogun has signed a new five-year contract with the club. The striker’s contract was due to run out at the end of the season. Manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have convinced the striker that his future lies at the Emirates.
Arsenal striker Florian Balogun has impressed with the Under 23s scoring on eight occasions while providing two assists in 16 games. Balogun earlier impressed with the Arsenal Under 18s. He scored 25 goals in 19 matches including three hattricks.
Balogun was born in USA and has represented both England and USA at the U18 level. He is also eligible to play for Nigeria. The striker made his senior debut this season. He scored two goals in his six appearances for the senior team. Both goals came in the Europa League against Molde and Dundalk.
“It’s great that Flo (Balogun) will continue to be with us.” Arsenal technical Director Edu said. “He is a very promising young talent and has already shown so much quality in his performances. We are all looking forward to working with him during his continued development in the coming years.”
“We have been extremely impressed with Flo this season,” Arteta said. “He has continually shown his natural ability in many training sessions with us and we have been equally impressed with his early integration into the first-team squad on matchdays.
“He has given us glimpses with the performances and of course with his two goals already for the first team,” he added. “The hard work starts here for Flo and we are all looking forward to supporting and working with him in the years to come.”
