Willian has walked away from Arsenal by terminating his contract with the club in order to secure a move to Corinthians in Brazil. The Brazilian had two years left on his contract, decided to tear up his £20.5m contract without asking for any compensation.

“Following positive and constructive recent discussions with him and his team, he will be leaving for a new opportunity with Corinthians in Brazil, where he began his career,” Arsenal said in a statement after Willian decided to tear up his contract. “Everyone at Arsenal wishes Willian and his family well for the future.”

Meanwhile, Brighton has completed the signing of Marc Cucurella after triggering the Spaniard’s release clause of £15.4m. He became Brighton’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Enock Mwepu and Kjell Scherpen.

“We have been keen to bring Marc to the club, and we are really pleased to finally welcome him here and are excited to begin working with him.” Brighton boss Graham Potter said. “He has had a fantastic education in the youth teams at Barcelona and he has gone on make a real impression in La Liga and within the national set up. He is a versatile player, and he will add competition and options to the squad.”

Cucurella is an Espanyol youth system product before joining Barcelona in 2012. He enjoyed loan spells with Eibar and Getafe before signing on a permanent basis with the latter in 2020.
