Ashley Young has once again signed for Aston villa after spending the past few years with inter Milan in the Serie A. Young has spent a decade away from Villa where he broke through. He has signed a one-year deal with the club with an option of a one-year extension. Young will turn 36 next month and is fresh from winning the Serie A last season. He opted to return to the Premier League and was involved in talks with Watford and Burnley.

“It feels amazing to be back, it feels like I’ve not left,” Young said. “You can see how much the club has evolved since my time and I’m just ready to get down to work now. When I heard of the interest from Aston Villa, it was straight to my agent ‘get a deal done, whatever you can, get a deal done’.”

“Watching from afar, seeing the squad, how well they did last season, how well they’ve been doing,” he added. “The staff, the manager, how the players want to play for him; they’ve got that hunger, he’s got that desire, that winning mentality. And, for me, I know I’ve got that winning mentality.”

Young had 36 appearances for Inter Milan last season after joining the club from Manchester United in 2020. Before joining United, Young had made close to 200 appearances for the club. He won the Premier League, League Cup, and the FA Cup with Manchester United.

“Ashley brings with him a wealth of experience of top-level football both at the club and international level and he is joining having just won a league championship in Italy.” Aston Villa coach Dean Smith said talking about Ashley Young. “He is a player who can play in a number of positions and, having spoken to him at length, I know he is determined to make a real impact with us this season.”
