In the round of 16 of the King’s Cup, Spanish third division side Alcoyano
was halted, and Athletic Bilbao progressed to the quarterfinals, advancing 2-1 away to Alcoy.

After Pablo Carbonell scored the leading goal for Alcoyano in the 39th minute, the team that knocked out Real Madrid in the 1/16 finals were on the verge of another upset. But Athletic secured a spot in the quarterfinals with goals from Villalibre (53) and Williams (78) in the second half.

Granada defeated third-tier Navalcarnero 6-0 earlier.

The draw for the quarter-final pairs is on Friday, and Barcelona, Villarreal, Seville, Levante, Betis, and Almeria will also be included, in addition to Athletic and Granada.
