Gareth Bale has no interest in a potential move to Newcastle despite rumors stating that the Tyneside club will look to sign him after their purchase of £ 300 m has been completed.

The Welshman was considered a surplus at Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane desperate in the summer transfer window to get him off their books.

And Newcastle, who are close to announcing their lucrative takeover of Saudi Arabia, is eyeing up an offer.

The prospective new owners of the club, a group led by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi, are understood to make a bid for Bale as soon as the acquisition is completed.

Yet the Madrid star has no interest in a move to St James’ park, according to reports in Spain.

Tom Allnutt, Spain’s sports correspondent for AFP, posted on Twitter that BAle will not move to Newcastle even if the takeover is complete and Newcastle is interested.

The news will come as a shock to the Saudi-led group, which this summer considers Bale as a priority to sign.

The former Tottenham winger is at the top of their transfer wishlist, with Philippe Coutinho and Nabil Fekir in their sights as well.

Bale has scored 105 goals for Madrid in 294 games since making an £85 m move from Tottenham in 2013, which was then a world record.

In his tenure at the Bernabeu, he picked up four Champions League winners’ medals and one La Liga title.

Ex Newcastle player John Barnes, who played for the Magpies in the 1998 FA Cup final, says his former club needs to lower its aspirations ahead of the planned takeover.
