In the remaining game of the 1st round of the Spanish Championship, the Barcelona footballers defeated Elche 3-0 (0-0) at their Camp Nou, and the double-scorer was Catalan team captain Leo Messi.

The Argentine, after a combination with Dane Martin Braithwaite, scored his first goal in the 48th minute. Messi was assisted brilliantly by Dutchman Frenkie de Jong in the 69th minute. 

The second assist was scored by Braithwaite in the 73rd minute and Jordi Alba was the scorer.

Barcelona reached 50 points with this victory, five less than the leading Atletico, which has a game less than that. Second, with 52 points, is Real Madrid.

Elche stayed at 21 points and is in a convulsive fight for survival in the penultimate place. Valladolid has the same number of points, which is 18th, as Eibar, which is 17th. Alaves is in 16th place with one more point. Elche has less of a game than the competition.
