Barcelona center-back Gerard Pique is believed to be able to appear in Tuesday’s Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain after secretly returning to training to prove his fitness.
The 34-year-old went down with an injury to his knee ligaments in November’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid, and it was speculated that it may well have ended up being a season-end injury due to the age of Pique.
Fortunately, Pique has recovered well and doubts have been raised, but, according to Marca, things have gone better than anyone would have expected. It is said that he has broken records when it comes to recovering from this form of injury, and on Thursday last week, he was snuck into training to begin preparing for Tuesday’s game.
Barcelona did not want the public to report Pique’s health, just in case something went wrong. When they held an open 15-minute training session on Friday, Pique was shielded from the cameras but is believed to have been training with the side for the last five days.
