Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois expressed his thoughts on the potential resumption and completion of the LaLiga Santander season. He is in favor of completing the season and believes that if Barcelona were to win the league by default it would be incredibly unfair to him and his Real Madrid teammates.
In his second season at the club Courtois hit 50 league matches for Real Madrid. He’s played 27 games in the league in his first second and has played 23 in this term. His was crucial to Real Madrid, as they conceded the fewest goals of this campaign in LaLiga and remain unbeaten at home in LaLiga.
In an interview on Belgian TV, Courtois said, “We are just two points behind Barcelona and if the season were to be canceled and Barcelona declared champions then it would be unfair,” said MARCA.”We drew them and beat them this year, we were the better team.”It would be different in the case of Liverpool because I don’t even know how many points they are ahead. I want to finish the season.”
After completing this morning’s inspection of the club’s facilities, La Liga has provided the green light to carry out these tests to guarantee players’ safety.
The Real Madrid squad is scheduled to undergo COVID-19 checks on Wednesday, and if all goes well, the training will start next Monday. “We need to be 100 percent sure that we are taking the required medical measures before we start playing again,” Courtois said. “What happens if another team member gets infected? “I think there’s plenty to consider but I’d love to finish the season.”
