Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of Bayern Munich, issued an update on the future of defender Niklas Sule, who was associated with the move to Chelsea.
This summer, Sule, 25, has been targeted by Chelsea as the Blues look to improve their defensive options.
Tuchel is keen on the center-back who, on his Allianz deal, has just under 18 months left.
Bayern chief Rummenigge hopes that an agreement can be reached with Sule, but has acknowledged that an agreement would only be feasible because of the financial effect of the coronavirus if certain conditions are met and decided upon.
“We want the good German national team players at FC Bayern. Niklas still has one year of the contract,” Rummenigge told ZDF.
We’re going to have meetings to see where they’re going to lead. By the summer, we’re going to look at the whole thing seriously and calmly.
Corona [Covid-19 pandemic] has also caused FC Bayern financial harm.
“If we find a solution, we are happy to extend the contract, but that will only be possible under certain conditions.”
Ahead of the summer transfer window, Chelsea was linked with a whole host of center-backs. Dayot Upamecano, who recently decided to join Bayern, missed out.
David Alaba, a fellow Bayern defender, has been linked but has agreed verbally to join Real Madrid, although nothing has been signed yet.
Since joining Bayern Munich in 2017, Sule has quite the trophy record of having won 11 major honors.
