The defensive funk of Bayern Munich persisted in the squad’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday. It is not only one player defensively causing the problems, but a revolving cast, all contributing equally to the defective action.
With several weeks of poor backline results, reports have begun to heat up and Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig is considered one of the most famous names on the transfer market. Naturally, a connection was going to be made and this statement was recently given by TV expert Marcel Reif
TV expert Marcel Reif is adding a lot of momentum to the matter once again. “To Bild, he predicted: “Next summer, Upamecano will go to Bayern. Of that, I’m pretty sure. Upamecano is the clearest option, and Alaba will end up in Real Madrid or anywhere else. ‘Do the Bayern executives have to act in the window of the winter transfer? ‘That is relatively impossible, as Leipzig presumably does not need the money and in the short time, it could hardly find an alternative. On the other hand, in the summer, things will look different again.
Now, Reif may think that Upamecano is heading for Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians are far from the defender’s only club. Per Sky Sports, some big-name and deep-pocketed clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea, have Upamecano on their radar.
Oliver Mintzlaff, chief executive of RB Leipzig, admitted that his squad is receiving a great deal of interest from clubs looking at its players.
“In terms of quality, we have a squad that is very broad,” Mintzlaff recently told Bild. “So, if it makes financial sense, we will sell top performers again and we can cope with it from a sporting point of view.”
