Yossi Benayoun thanked Jurgen Klopp for returning the glory days at Liverpool, maintaining that he made the “big shift” at the club after a frustrating time of mediocrity.

The holders of Jürgen Klopp’s Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup sit 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of the June 17 provisional restart date of the season.

And Benayoun, who made 134 appearances for the Reds from 2007 to 2010, is full of respect for Klopp and the squad that he has put together.

During the 1970s and 80s Liverpool became England’s most successful club, blowing away all the competition on their way to winning multiple league titles and European Cups.

After the formation of the Premier League in 1992, however, that success began to dry up, and they had to watch Manchester United emerge to take their place as the top dogs in the country.

Last season, Klopp masterminded the club ‘s sixth Champions League triumph before also presenting UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup honors, and his side is now only six points away from picking up a piece of silverware that has proved elusive in modern times.

Benayoun-who played for the Reds between 2007 and 2010-says the German head coach built “something extraordinary” when he assumed the management reins at Anfield in 2015, and he hopes the new crop will continue to prosper under his stewardship for years to come.

“I ‘m glad to see it, it’s great to see where Liverpool is now. From what I see they are playing beautiful football. The most remarkable aspect is that you like being a squad-everybody understands what they’re doing on the field because they’re all on, you don’t get one or two big stars. The team is one single unit. They’re playing along. Big credit to the manager, of course, Jurgen Klopp. This is, I think, the big change from years ago. I always love to see them. Hopefully, they will continue to operate like this and make us happy” the retired Liverpool midfielder told the club’s official website.
