British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in October that spectators at England’s stadiums could be back. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, gatherings of a large number of people in the UK have been banned since March, and Johnson announced that experiments will begin by the end of this month to more effectively join the fight against the virus.
“We will do pilot studies to put together more people in places like football stadiums so they can reopen in the autumn. The idea is for fans to return to the stadiums in October, and conferences and other business meetings will be permitted,” Johnson said.
One of the pilot events will be the World Snooker Championship, due to start at the end of this month in Sheffield, as well as two cricket matches and a horse race.
