To celebrate his 644 goals for the club, Budweiser sent a beer to every goalkeeper whom Lionel Messi scored a goal against Barcelona. In his career, Messi has broken several records and he achieved yet another impressive one on Tuesday. In all competitions for the Catalan giants, his goal against Valladolid took him to 644 and meant that he surpassed Pele’s 643 goals for Santos as the most ever scored for one club.
For the past 16 years, since he made his debut against Espanyol in October 2004, the 33-year-old has been traumatizing goalkeepers with all those targets, and they’ve all been reminded of their trauma.
Budweiser sent each goalkeeper a numbered bottle of beer that Ballon d’Or scored six times against and numbered with which Messi’s strike it was.
That means that for the Christmas season, Merry Christmas indeed, some goalkeepers will be well-stocked on beers.
Speaking to SPORTbible, Samuel Eto’o praised his former teammate for breaking the record of Pele, saying, “I think he’s the greatest of this life and the other life, as well. When he is playing, you have the impression that he’s playing a pickup game with his friends.”
