Since sustaining a knee injury, the England international hasn’t made a single appearance for the Red Devils this season and is still healing. He did not do any better last season, however, with Jones only playing two Premier League matches and three fixtures in the Champions League.
The Sun reports that the Man Utd ‘misfit’ is ‘the shock name at the top of the shopping list that Sean Dyche will hand to new Burnley chairman Alan Pace’ with Jones likely to be fit again this month.
The study notes that Dyche is ‘attempted to take him on loan for the remainder of the season’ after Man Utd ‘indicated that if he is loaned out, they will be able to pay a substantial chunk of his £ 130,000 a week salary.’
The situation with James Tarkowski could make Dyche even more anxious to bring in another defender, with movements to Leicester City and West Ham connected to the center-back.
The biggest ‘snag’ may be the past of Jones at Burnley’s arch-rivals Blackburn Rovers, but with games behind closed doors, this campaign does not pose too much of a challenge.
