Cagliari is about to complete a double swoop for the center-back, Federico Fazio, Inter defender Diego Godin, and Roma, Football-Italia said.
Although Fazio was known to be a goal, and there have been negotiations going on for several days, Godin is a very new creation. Uruguay International has just approved a permanent move to Sardinia.
This is a free swap, so Godin was released early to get the books off his wages. He joined Inter as a free agent from Atletico Madrid just a year ago, but he is not the first choice under Antonio Conte, and his salary is deemed excessive.
Rennes was interested in getting Godin but Cagliari seems to have won that particular race.
Fazio is also scheduled to have a weekend medical check-up after Roma has accepted a €1.5 m plus bonus offer.
