Callum Hudson-Odoi says police have now completed their investigations into last month’s allegations of rape brought against him.

The attacker from Chelsea was arrested in May on suspicion of rape, after being called to his flat by the London Ambulance Service for reports that a woman was unwell.

At the time, the Metropolitan Police released a statement that read: “When emergency services were in attendance, a woman reported being raped. She was taken to the hospital. A man was arrested on the scene on suspicion of rape. He was released from jail and bailed in mid-June for a return date. Investigations continue.”

Hudson-Odoi took to social media on Saturday to state that such investigations have now resulted in no further action being taken against him by police.

“At a time when bigger things are happening in the world right now, you might also be aware of the serious allegations against me. I have remained silent and fully assisted the police throughout their inquiries, as I knew that the day would come soon when my name would be cleared.”After a thorough and full investigation, police have now confirmed that they will not take any further action,” he wrote.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who stood by my side during this difficult time and who helped me.I’ve learned that being a footballer and playing for one of the world’s best clubs comes with a lot of responsibility, and I’ll try to use my platform as a Chelsea player to be the best role model I can be, “Hudson-Odoi added.
