Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is already looking at alternatives to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, now considered as Porto star Jesus Corona after scouts identified the talented Mexican.
In case they miss Jadon Sancho, Chelsea keeps tabs on Porto star Jesus Corona as a fall-back option.
Blues manager Frank Lampard has Sancho squarely on his wish list, but Manchester United is reportedly in favor of signing Borussia Dortmund ‘s £ 100m-rated star.
Chelsea considered possible alternatives and scouts described Corona as another choice.
Mexico’s 27-year-old winger, who can also play wing-back, has two goals, and 17 assists this season in 41 games for Porto.
He has also played for his national team 42 times and is priced at £26 m, making him a much cheaper choice than Sancho.
Inter Milan and Sevilla also inquired about Corona, who once turned down a move to Barcelona for a first-team football opportunity at Twente.
But with both Willian and Pedro expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea is in the winger market and might be tempted to make a move.
Bournemouth forward Josh King has also emerged as a potential target, coming close to joining Manchester United in January and out of contract next summer.
Yet Chelsea ‘s big summer investment is more likely to be on a striker, with Moussa Dembele of Lyon already on their radar.
The motivation of the club on the transfer market will be determined by whether they qualify for the Champions League or not, with Lampard ‘s men sitting in the fourth position until the season is suspended. Meanwhile, after recently waxing lyrical about the Dortmund ace, Chelsea ace Christian Pulisic could push Lampard into breaking the bank for Sancho.
“It is one of the big reasons why when I was very young I was drawn there,” Pulisic told Sky Sports.
