This was a rather tough decision and not one that was taken lightly by the owner and the board. We are grateful to Frank for what he has done as Head Coach of the Club in his tenure. Nevertheless, recent outcomes and results have not reached the aspirations of the Club, leaving the mid-table of the Club without any definite route to sustainable change.
With a club legend like Frank, there will never be a good time to part ways, but after long deliberation and consideration, it was agreed that a change is now needed to allow the Club time to boost performances and results this season.
“For the Club, this was a very difficult decision, not least because I have a great personal relationship with Frank and I have the utmost respect for him. He is a man of immense honesty with the highest ethic of work. Nevertheless, under current conditions, we agree it is better to change managers. I would like to thank Frank for his work as Head Coach on behalf of everyone at the Club, the Board, and personally, and wish him every success in the future. He is a significant symbol of this great club, and his standing remains undiminished here. At Stamford Bridge, he’ll always be warmly welcomed back, said, Roman Abramovich.
The Club will not make any further remarks until the announcement of a new Head Coach.
