Denmark captain Christian Eriksen was pictured with a young fan in public for the first time after he suffered from a cardiac arrest on the pitch at Euro 2020. He was resuscitated on the pitch and was immediately taken to the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen on June 12. The Danish FA confirmed on June 18 that Eriksen underwent a successful operation to have a cardioverter-defibrillator fitted in his body. The Danish captain has been relaxing in Odense since the operation. On Sunday, He was seen at Tidvilde Strand beach in Denmark, 60kms away from the capital Copenhagen.
“I was nervous and completely speechless when I had to ask about the picture. But I’m proud that I did it and I’m very happy today.” Bjorn Bindzus, the fan who asked Denmark captain Christian Eriksen for a picture said. “We were at a photoshoot for a commercial when I suddenly saw him while we were having lunch. So I waited to ask him until he had finished talking to his girlfriend. And he said yes right away.”
“I didn’t see the incident against Finland, but he looked healthy. It was really nice to see,” he added. “I mostly watch football when the national team is playing, and here my favorite player is without a doubt, Christian Eriksen. I’m proud of myself that I have that image.”
Eriksen had posted from the bed in hospital two and a half weeks back to give an update on his condition. He expressed his gratitude to all the well-wishers from around the world. The Denmark captain wished his Danish teammates the best for the remainder of Euro 2020. Denmark has overcome all the odds to reach the knockout stages of the tournament after losing their first two games. they beat Wales in the Round of 16 as well as the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals to set up a semi-final with tournament favorites England.
