Ciro Immobile has asked the Lazio fans who harassed his family to ‘leave them alone. Others can keep memories short.’ In his second consecutive game yesterday, Immobile struggled to score, failing to keep Lazio from a 2-1 loss at Sassuolo.
Writing to Instagram after the game, the 30-year-old claimed he and his family had been assaulted by Aquile supporters.
“Probably some have short memories so I ask all of you to leave my family alone,” he said.
“If you want to write anything negative or offensive, do it directly to me. My family doesn’t have anything to do with that. Thank you for that.”
Whether he responded to comments made public on his Instagram page or by direct private message is not clear.
Despite his recent profligacy, he remains Capocannoniere with 29 goals this season, one more than the nearest rival, Cristiano Ronaldo.
