Christian Benteke has agreed on a two-year contract extension with Crystal Palace. Benteke joined Crystal Palace from Liverpool five seasons ago. He was the club-record signing at the time. Benteke scored 10 goals for Crystal Palace in the 2020/21 season. Since joining the club, the Belgian has scored 82 goals in 255 appearances. The striker has decided to commit his future to the club in spite of Roy Hodgson leaving the club. Crystal Palace finished 14th in the 2020/21 Premier League.

“I’m happy and proud to commit my future to Crystal Palace. Five years already and still a lot more to come,” Christian Benteke said after committing his future to Crystal Palace. “We have a great group of players and staff, and I’m looking forward to the season ahead and playing in front of our fans again.”

“Christian has been an integral part of consolidating our position as an established Premier League club over the last five years.” Chairman Steve Parish said. “He is an outstanding professional and has more than proven that he still has the quality and the hunger to perform for our club at the highest level, and I couldn’t be happier to see him in red and blue for another two seasons.”

Benteke was part of the Belgium squad announced for Euro 2020. He has 16 goals in 39 international caps for his country. Belgium has been one of the best teams in the world in recent times. They have been atop the world rankings for the past year. In 2018, they reached the semi-finals of the tournament and beat Brazil in the quarter-finals. Eventual winners and World Champions France defeated Belgium in the semi-finals. Belgium then went on to beat England in the third-place playoff.
