Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Chelsea defender Marc Guehi on a five-year deal. Chelsea have inserted two clauses into his contract. The first clause involves sell-on incentives. The second clause is that Chelsea have the right to match any bids that the player receives in the future. Guehi is the new crystal palace boss Patrick Vieira’s third signing this transfer window.
Guehi spent last season on loan with Coventry City. The youngster is just 21 and has made 40 appearances. Under Steve Cooper, Swansea fell agonizingly close to promotion into the Premier League. They were beaten by Brentford in the playoff final.
“I’m very excited,” Marc Guehi said after joining Crystal Palace. “It’s a great opportunity for me to come to such a big club in the Premier League. I’m really excited to get going. [The club is taking] a really exciting direction with the new gaffer that’s come in. A lot of good young players are here and obviously, such a stable club with top players really enticed me and made me want to come.”
Palace have been following Guehi for some time now and Patrick Vieira gave the green signal after he was appointed as the crystal palace boss last week. They have already signed Michael Olise from Reading as well as Remi Matthews on a free transfer.
Chairman Steve Parish added: “We are delighted to have signed Marc for Crystal Palace. He’s an exciting talent and one we believe will be a valuable addition to the squad as we build towards the coming season.”
