Roma owner Dan Friedkin is dissatisfied with the team’s success under head coach Paulo Fonseca this season.

The Romans were defeated by Parma (0:2) in the 27th round of Serie A, and their spot in the top four was lost. The team is currently in the sixth position in the table, two points behind Atalanta in fourth.

The future of Fonseca at Roma is largely dependent on Roma’s ability to qualify for the Champions League next season. The top four teams in Serie A automatically qualify for this tournament.

Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are on Roma’s shortlist for the role of head coach. Friedkin’s team is also considering a few non-Italian candidates.

Fonseca wishes to stay with Roma, and his deal will be automatically extended if the club is relegated from the Champions League. Since 2019, a Portuguese coach has been in charge of the team.
