David Bettoni is the man who will take charge of Real Madrid during the La Liga clash with Alaves this weekend.
Zinedine Zidane tested positive for Covid-19, but the reigns of his squad were entrusted to a man who, according to Marca, had been on his side for a long time.
At the end of the 1980s, their relationship dates back to Cannes, where they met in a shared home that Zidane ended up in when he signed for the club. Although Zidane did the Juventus business before joining Madrid, Bettoni also played in Italy.
Since the beginning, Bettoni has been with Zidane, working as a utility man until 2017, when he received his official coaching qualifications.
Since 17, the pair have known each other and won three Champions League titles together know how the Frenchman enjoys working and they always confer together mid-game.
This is not going to be the first time Bettoni has played a game for Los Blancos. The last pre-season in Montreal, when Zidane returned home after his brother’s death, he led them.
The pair share a close bond, and Zidane hopes that his old friend will be able to deliver in what could be a critical few games for the Madrid season.
