David Silva paid tribute to the “stupendous men” with whom he served in Manchester City and even joked that after playing in his final Premier League match, he would miss the English weather.

The great Spaniard signed off after 309 English top-flight appearances in style as Pep Guardiola ‘s men ran riot at the Etihad Stadium in a 5-0 hammering of relegated Norwich City.

In his ten years at City, Silva has won the Premier League four times, including two FA Cup titles and five EFL Cup triumphs for good measure.

The prolific playmaker has made his mark as one of the best players ever to grace the Premier League and is proud of his success in English soccer.

Talking to BBC Sport, he said: “It was emotional because they’re great people. I’ve been working with them for 10 years and I have a wonderful friendship with them. I love them and I’m going to miss them all. To win so many titles and how we earned it, I’m a fortunate person, I’ve had plenty of nice moments, and this one too, the last one. I’m going to miss it all – even the weather!”

Silva ‘s City career is not yet at an end as they resume their last-16 Champions League match against Real Madrid on August 7.
