Once again Joao Felix was substituted but Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone trusts the attacker. While Diego Simeone backed Joao Felix to replace the player again in Atletico Madrid ‘s 3-0 victory over Real Mallorca in LaLiga on Friday.

Early in the second half, Joao Felix was replaced at the Wanda Metropolitano where Alvaro Morata scored a brace against sealer Koke.

A record of €126million was signed by Benfica last year. Portugal International has been replaced in 17 of its 21 LaLiga games. Yet Simeone, the Atletico boss, backed the 20-year-old and told the attacker he had full confidence.

H news conference via AS: “We are absolutely confident of his quality, talent, and the way he plays, and we need him to reproduce on the field. We ‘re focused on the objective of the team and the club, we ‘re not stopping at individualities. We ‘re trying to strengthen the commune based on encouraging individualities. Joao started well against Osasuna, he had good matches, he was not as good in his game and he realized that the team needed other features as Vitolo, who worked for what the team needed.”

Joao Felix has scored eight goals in all competitions this season and provided three assists in 34 appearances.

Simeone, whose side secured third place in the table, said his message was clear to the younger players.

Atletico is back in action as they host Celta Vigo on Tuesday.
