On Tuesday, Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno declined to refute reports of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return.

Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Real Madrid this summer. Butragueno did not refute the allegations when asked about them before their Champions League win over Atalanta.

“We’ll see,” he replied, “in half an hour we’ll be playing a semi-final, one of the most critical games of the season. We have to focus all of our attention on this match and securing a place in the quarter-final draw.”

Emilio Butragueno, Real Madrid’s director of football, labels Atalanta a “dangerous team” and refuses to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo’s potential return.

Butragueno told Sky Sport Italia about playing at their Valdebebas training ground, the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano: “The Bernabeu is the Bernabeu, but we have to play here, be successful, and realize this is the reality.”

“Atalanta is a dangerous team that attacks with a large number of players and has a variety of scoring choices. It’ll be an open game between two great teams, and the outcome might be anything, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was also questioned about the news that Cristiano Ronaldo might leave Juventus and return to Spain.
