Sam Johnstone – N/A
The England keeper barely had to touch the ball during the game with a 45-yard shot being the only save he had to make.
Reece James – 6
He is truly a utility man. Southgate had prepped the youngster to play at right-back, right wing-back, and right-sided center half for the Euro 2020. He started the second half in midfield and struck the crossbar with a shot.
Tyrone Mings – 5
Like his defensive colleagues, he had such little to do that it was unfair to award a rating. He got booked towards the end that ruled him out of the Poland match.
Conor Coady – 6
Exactly the same case as Mings minus the booking for his partner.
Kieran Trippier – 4
A stalwart presence in the England set-up, although a conservative right-footed defender wasn’t the ideal selection at left-back against such limited opponents as this.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6
The Liverpool defender started in midfield for the first time in his career but could not impose himself on the game. He switched positions with James in the second half and was much more influential from the right-back position.
Jude Bellingham – 7
The youngster showed the fans why they should be excited about the future. He was one of the best players on the pitch and was disappointing to see him being subbed off.
Jordan Henderson – 6
As compared to his partner Bellingham, he seemed labored but provided the necessary experience needed for such a game.
Bukayo Saka – 8
He enjoyed a superb performance on his 20th birthday and his goal should go a long way in exorcising any demons from the Euro 2020 final. Was awarded the Man of the Match for England against lowly-ranked Andorra.
Jesse Lingard – 8
Having last scored for his country nearly three years ago, Lingard was on the scoresheet in both halves and his display, in general, was bright, lively, and occasionally penetrating.
Patrick Bamford – 5
So the anticipated debut happened but the expected chances didn’t. Had scarcely any service to work off prior to being replaced and only came vaguely close to scoring when he hit a second-half snap-shot over the bar.
