The Champions League and Europa League both will follow a Final Eight format as expected for the remainder of this season. The UEFA Executive Committee decided this afternoon that, according to Football Italia, ties would be held in the Champions League from the quarter-final stage on across two venues in Lisbon.

The mini-tournament, made up of seven knockout fixtures, begins on August 11 and finishes on August 23, 12 days later. Before this, the Champions League’s remaining four Last-16 second legs — including Juventus-Olympique Lyonnais and Barcelona-Napoli — will be played on 7-8 August at venues that are yet to be decided. In the meantime, the Europa League will end in Cologne, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, and Gelsenkirchen, the four German cities.

Its final eight is scheduled for 5-6 August at the designated home venue or in Germany, between 10-21 August, with the Last-16 ties still exceptional.

In the case of Inter-Getafe and Sevilla-Roma, that never kicked out, those ties will be negotiated over a single leg. All games will be played at 20:00 BST (21:00 CET), except for some of the ones left in the Europa League Round of 16 that could kick off at 17:55 BST (18:55 CET).

Even if summer signatures are not allowed, teams in both competitions can add three new players to their squads and they are allowed to make five substitutions over three intervals during matches.

The European Super Cup will now be played in Budapest on September 24, and in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 203, host cites for that competition, as well as the Champions League and Europa League Finals, will be pushed back a year.

Lastly, the qualifiers for the 2020-21 Champions League begin on 8 August and will be one-legged ties, before two-legged playoffs on 22-23 August and 29-30 September and group stage between 20 October and 9 December.

The Europa League qualifications begin on August 20, ahead of the October 1 playoffs and the group stage from October 22 through December 10.

Fans will not be able to play in games at this stage but UEFA has agreed to ‘regularly review the situation around the continent.’
