Sheffield United nearly secured their first Premier League win of the season on Sunday afternoon but conceded late on to draw 1-1 with Brighton & Hove Albion on the south coast.

Brighton had the best opportunities in a tight first period, with Neal Maupay coming close on two occasions. However, just before half-time, when John Lundstram was given a red card for a powerful challenge on Joel Veltman, the game was turned on its head, leaving the fate of the Blades on the edge of a knife.

The Blades were camped in their half for large portions of the second 45 minutes, but they shocked the Amex Stadium by executing a flawless counter-attack, allowing debutant Jayden Bogle to shoot home and put Chris Wilder’s men forward on 63 minutes.

The Seagulls huffed and puffed to draw level when Danny Welbeck chested down and rifled a ball into the net from inside the six-yard box and they got their break with three minutes left on the clock. Neither team has been able to find a winner and the points have been divided.
