Kelechi Iheanacho’s 94th minute took a lucky Leicester to the FA Cup quarterfinals. Until striker Iheanacho was left free from a quick corner to nod the only objective at the back post, most of the contests had been edged by Brighton.

The Seagulls had begun with the confidence of a side that Tottenham and Liverpool had recently defeated. And, though under Wilf Ndidi’s attack, Jakub Moder stabbed a fair chance big. Eventually, Jamie Vardy was involved, shooting a deflected 30-yarder hard, as Leicester got into it slowly. But Iheanacho snatching the winner for the Foxes would make Brighton feel aggrieved.

Kelechi Iheanacho sent Leicester into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a stop-time header to settle the desperate encounter against Brighton.

Cengiz Under and Youri Tielemans worked a short corner with the match seemingly heading for extra time, and Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy’s 62nd-minute replacement, rose to head home unchallenged.

Earlier, Leicester defender James Justin was carried off on a stretcher after dropping awkwardly, while Brighton’s Andi Zeqiri and Leicester’s Under both had goals ruled out for offside.
