Brentford continued their amazing start to the Premier League with a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the weekend. Both sides played some entertaining football in the first half but it was Ivan Toney who broke the deadlock with his first goal in the Premier League. Emi Buendia then scored the equalizer from the edge of the box when he was set up by another signing Danny Ings. The draw means that Brentford is in ninth place with five points from their three games played with the best football results from the promoted clubs.

Managers Reaction

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith: “I’m not sure we did quite enough. I thought we were the aggressors, certainly in the second half and latter stages, but probably didn’t create enough clear-cut chances in the final third to win it.”

Brentford boss Thomas Frank: “You need to remember where we’re coming from, what kind of club we are, we are just a bus stop in Hounslow, so it’s quite impressive.” he added. “I’m pleased with many bits of the performance, and again like at Crystal Palace, if there was to be a narrow winner, it should have been us.”
