Coventry scored with literally the last kick of the game as they produced one of the close football results of the weekend in the Championship. The game came into life with two red cards within two minutes of each other. Liam Lindsay was sent off in the 84th minute before Fankaty Dabo received his in the 86th. The visitors scored in the 89th minute before Tavares equalized in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
Coventry’s Mark Robins: “The people that came onto the pitch deserve everything they have coming to them because that is sacrosanct. Stay off the pitch! You earn the right to be on that football pitch; they haven’t earned the right to be on it. Stay off it. It doesn’t help anybody. That isn’t what contributed to the added time, that was because of the fouls, the sending offs, and all those things that culminated in what was added on, not the other bits and pieces. That isn’t it, so I am not happy about that.”
Preston’s Ryan Lowe: “It was a hard one to take. When you put six minutes up for stoppage time and play 7.20 it’s definitely tough to take, but look, I thought the players were fantastic. I thought there was only one team going to win it and then we had a man sent off, go down the other end and get a penalty. I was disappointed with the way things were going after that, people running on the pitch and threatening players.”
