Callum Wilson’s overhead kick helped Newcastle earn a point in one of the close football results of the weekend in the Premier League. It was a good point for Newcastle after their coach Steve Bruce was sacked and Palace remained unbeaten at home this season. The hosts dominated the game but were guilty of missing a number of chances including Christian Benteke hitting the post. The latter gave them the lead in the 56th minute but a moment of brilliance by Wilson ensured that they earned the share of the spoils.

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira: “There is a lot of frustration, of course. I think we played well enough and created enough chances to win the game. But again, we’re a bit disappointed with the result at the end.”
Newcastle interim manager Graeme Jones: “I’m pleased we got something out of it. We deserved that for our organization, understanding, and mentality. It’s far from where I want to be, on the ball in particular. On the turnover, our first pass could be better at times, but it was a solid place to start from. We’ll look to build and improve for as long as I’m doing this.”
