Eliott then scored the third after returning from a dislocated ankle before Rubin Colwill grabbed a consolation goal in the 80th minute. Summer signing Luis Diaz also made his debut after his move from Porto.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “He was unlucky with the injury but then lucky with the whole process afterward. Everything has gone well. He did an incredible job and the medical department did an incredible job. He was patient coming back and he’s still a fearless boy and a great footballer. There are not a lot of good things when you get an injury like that, but when you are that young, you deal with it better. Getting this goal was a really touching moment. Luis came on and it’s just a little bruise, a little cut. Everyone in the dressing room said, ‘Welcome to England’. That will be a scar in the end from his first game, but it’s all good.”
