Aston Villa claimed a famous away win and one of the surprising football results of the weekend in the Premier League. Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty for the home side as he blazed his spot-kick over the bar. Kourtney Hause first scored for the visitors with two minutes left of regulation time before he gave away a penalty after handling the ball in the penalty area. Cristiano Ronaldo raised a few eyebrows when he did not step up to take the penalty kick.

Managers Reaction

Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: “It’s obviously disappointing because [Aston Villa’s goal] is offside. We were unfortunate to have that decision go against us.” he added. “I thought our intensity, our aggression, the defending we did, and the transitions were good, but that last pass was not the best today.”

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith: “As everybody knows, we have had an awful lot of suffering as Villa fans at this stadium, but I think we’ve been close in the last couple of years. People will look at it and say it is a big win but for me, it is a more big performance.” he added. “I thought we deserved the win. I thought we had the bigger chances. We were aggressive in the way we played against a front four of Ronaldo, Pogba, Fernandes, and Greenwood.”
